FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Transnuclear AWARDED DRY STORAGE CONTRACT BY OMAHA PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT
Transnuclear, Inc. (TN), announced today that it has won a contract from Omaha Public
Power District (OPPD) for supply of a dry storage system for storage of spent fuel at
the Fort Calhoun Station.
Under terms of the agreement, Transnuclear will supply the dual-purpose NUHOMS®-32PT
spent fuel storage system starting in 2005. Transnuclear will also perform the pool-to-pad
loading services starting in 2006. OPPD is designing its ISFSI for a total of forty dry
storage casks, of which ten casks will be supplied under this contract.
The dual-purpose NUHOMS® 32PT canister is licensed under NRC Certificate of Compliance
72-1004. This order brings the total number of sites using or planning to use Transnuclear
dry storage systems to 23 including three at DOE sites.
In announcing the order, Transnuclear President and CEO Alan S. Hanson said, "We are
very pleased to have OPPD join the growing family of TN cask users. With NUHOMS®, Fort
Calhoun will implement a proven, safe, and simple to deploy technology that meets all of the
plant’s fuel storage needs through its end of life in 2033."
Today, more than three hundred TN casks are loaded with almost ten thousand spent fuel
assemblies in the US. That is more than all competing dry storage systems combined.
